At the start of the first millennia, the Roman empire was in decline, beset with decadence and incompetence. But the fall of Rome itself, was hastened by barbarians at the city gates. These nomadic vandals besieged the city and fought their way through the streets in probably the first case of urban warfare. As street after street fell, so did the power of Rome....
